Celebrating Curls, Community, and Connection š¾
What a weekend! The Curly Coated Retriever Specialty is always a highlight of the year ā a time to reconnect with friends, admire beautiful dogs, and celebrate everything that makes our breed so special.
This year was no exception, with a wonderful atmosphere, wagging tails everywhere, and so many moments that reminded us why we love Curlies.
A Celebration of the Breed
From the veterans (on both 2 and 4 legs š¤) who still strut proudly around the ring to the wide-eyed youngsters experiencing their very first show, the day was filled with heart-warming moments. Every dog told their own story ā one of dedication, love, and that unique spark only a Curly can bring.
The Cutecurl Crew
Our own team made us so proud:
Xena proved once again that grace and confidence never fade ā awarded Reserve Bitch Challenge, Best Opposite Open in Show, Best Gaited, and Best Dam and ProgenyĀ š¤
The younger generation ā LokiĀ and SkadiĀ ā showed promise and personality, keeping us laughing and looking forward to the future. Skadi took out Best Minor Puppy in ShowĀ and Loki Best Opposite Sex Minor.
Whether they were in the ring or simply soaking up pats on the sidelines, each one reminded us that itās not just about ribbons ā itās about connection.
The Fun and Friendship
The Specialty isnāt just a dog show; itās a gathering of people who get it. From sharing tips to laughing over puppy antics (and maybe a few muddy pawprints), thereās a sense of community that makes the Curly world feel like family.
The fun classes were a massive hit, with fabulous representation from all ages ā the āWaggiest Tailā competition could have gone to half the field, and āBest Recall/Retrieveā was wildly entertaining for spectators and dogs alike!
Gratitude and Reflection
A big thank-you to the organisers, judges, and volunteers who put their hearts into making the event run so smoothly ā and what an incredible trophy table š¤©š¤©. Itās no small feat, and your hard work gives us all memories to treasure.
As we packed up our gear and our tired (but happy) dogs, we couldnāt help but feel grateful ā for the friendships, the laughs, the shared passion, and most of all, for the incredible breed that brings us all together.
āØĀ Until next time ā hereās to the Curlies, and to everyone who loves them.
