The First Three Weeks With Polly’s Puppies 🐾

Three weeks ago, Polly welcomed 12 beautiful puppies into the world — and somehow, in what feels like the blink of an eye, our quiet newborn nursery has transformed into a much louder, much busier puppy room 🤎

The first few days were spent doing what newborn puppies do best: sleeping, feeding, and piling themselves into tiny curly heaps beside Polly. Life revolved around warmth, milk, weigh-ins and making sure everyone was thriving.

With a litter this size, those early days required a little extra support from us as well. Alongside Polly being an incredible mum, we introduced supplementary bottle feeds and regular weight checks to help ensure every puppy continued to grow strongly and steadily. While it certainly meant some sleep deprivation, it has also been incredibly rewarding watching the puppies gain strength and confidence each day.
Polly has taken motherhood beautifully in her stride. She has remained calm, attentive and endlessly patient — even as the puppies become increasingly demanding and mobile 😅
By the second week, tiny changes started happening almost daily. Eyes began opening, little legs became steadier, and the puppies started responding more to movement, sound and each other. The nursery suddenly felt more interactive and alive.
Now, at three weeks old, the personalities are starting to emerge.

Some puppies are bold and determined. Others are happy to cuddle into the nearest warm body and sleep through the chaos. A few have already discovered that if they yell loudly enough when humans enter the room, someone usually appears to provide attention or food 🤭
This week also brought another milestone — their first taste of puppy mousse. While some puppies approached the experience cautiously, others fully embraced the concept of wearing the food as enthusiastically as eating it.

And, of course, we’ve officially had our first attempted escape from the whelping box…

Life at Cutecurl is definitely getting louder, messier and far more entertaining by the day 🤭
Through it all, Polly continues to be the steady centre of the chaos. Watching her interact with the puppies as they become more aware of the world around them has been incredibly special, and we’re so excited for the next stages of their development.
We’re looking forward to sharing more updates as the puppies continue to grow and explore 🤎🐾
