A quiet season of planning, patience, and preparation

There’s a quiet shift that happens once a litter is confirmed.

After the excitement of planning and anticipation, things settle into a calmer rhythm — a time of preparation, observation, and patience. At Cutecurl, this stage is just as important as the puppies themselves.

Polly is now in whelp, and while life continues as normal in many ways, there’s a quiet awareness that something special is on the way.

šŸ”Ā Creating the Right Environment

In the coming weeks, we begin preparing the whelping space — somewhere safe, clean, and calm.

This isn’t just about having a designated area; it’s about creating an environment where Polly feels comfortable, relaxed, and secure. The early days of a litter are shaped by their surroundings, and a stable, low-stress environment sets the foundation for everything that follows.

šŸ•Ā Supporting Mum

For Polly, this time is about balance.

She’s starting to change in small ways — a little rounder, a little slower — but still very much our quirky Polly šŸ¤Ž.

She continues to enjoy her normal routine — time outside, time with the other dogs, and of course, close supervision of anything happening in the kitchen šŸ˜…Ā ā€” just with a little extra care and attention.

Good nutrition, gentle monitoring, and keeping life predictable all help support her through this stage. Most importantly, she’s simply allowed to be herself.

🧠 Planning, Not Just Hoping

Behind the scenes, there’s a lot of quiet planning.

Whelping a litter is never something left to chance. We make sure everything is in place — from equipment and supplies through to veterinary support — so that if anything unexpected arises, we are prepared to act quickly and confidently.

Experience plays a big role here. While every litter is different, having a clear plan allows us to approach the process with calm rather than urgency.

šŸ¤ŽĀ Why This Stage Matters

It’s easy to focus on the excitement of puppies once they arrive, but this stage is where it really begins.

The environment, the care, and the preparation all contribute to the start each puppy receives. A well-prepared, low-stress beginning helps set the tone for confident, adaptable dogs — something we value deeply at Cutecurl.

✨ Looking Ahead

For now, it’s a waiting game.

We’re enjoying this quieter time, making preparations, and letting Polly take everything in her stride. If all continues to go well, we look forward to welcoming puppies in the coming weeks.

Until then, we’ll be here — planning, preparing, and quietly counting down. 🐾
